Save In-progress Entry

When creating entries for a lengthy content type, it becomes tedious and difficult to complete the entry in one session. Saving the entry midway, even if some mandatory fields are left blank, may be helpful.

In Contentstack, such entries are called 'in-progress' entries. These are entries that have one or more mandatory fields with no set value.

Tip: It is important to note that you will not be able to publish entries with blank mandatory fields. Doing so will result in an error while publishing. This ensures that only publishable (complete and valid) content can go live. Saving the in-progress entries is just a provision to allow you to save your entries with blank mandatory fields.

Saving the entries as 'in-progress' is a useful ability as it prevents any potential data loss, allowing content managers and writers to work on entries in multiple sessions or navigate away from the parent entry to create entry references on-the-go.

Note: This feature is available on request. So if you don't have this feature, please get in touch with our support team at support@contentstack.com.

To save any entry as 'in-progress' you simply need to open the entry page, skip adding content in the required fields, and click on the Save button.

Note: This feature is available for only V3 stacks.

Limitation of In-progress Entries

There are certain limitations of in-progress entries. The in-progress entries:

  • Cannot be published
  • Cannot be added to release
  • Cannot be scheduled for publishing
  • Cannot be part of bulk publishing
  • Cannot be sent for publishing as reference
