Pluxee offers an extensive employee benefit and engagement range of solutions across 29 countries, enabling 37M employees to redeem benefits with 1.7M merchants. Previously using a patchwork technology stack – a result of numerous mergers and acquisitions and in-house development - Pluxee chose Contentstack to consolidate its content management into a unified system and leverage composable technology to globalize its operations. The business has streamlined content workflows for product and development teams, strengthened global governance, and unlocked the potential for hyper-personalized digital experiences.
The challenge
Pluxee delivers over 250 programs to clients in 29 countries. The Group sells a comprehensive suite of benefits to more than half a million clients across the globe, comprised of public and private companies spanning all sizes and industries, as well as public institutions.
The employee benefits provided by Pluxee help clients augment their employees’ compensation package in ways that are particularly engaging for employees and efficient for clients. Operating in a B2B2C model, Pluxee reaches 37 million+ consumers through its client base. These consumers have access to Pluxee's proprietary merchant network, comprised of 1.7 million+ partners and 600 delivery and e-commerce platforms. Before adopting Contentstack, Pluxee built many of its technology solutions in-house or inherited them from acquiring organizations with different footprints. The company was looking to redevelop its digital presence with a new approach, eliminating the reliance on multiple tech stacks and solutions, each with their own way of doing things. Pluxee is looking to standardize technology and grow operations across 29 countries.
“When we started this transformation journey several years ago, we were a global company with global solutions designed to span borders, deploy seamlessly in every country, and meet the unique needs of clients wherever they operate,” Jorge Maya, Head of Product, Pluxee, said. “We were creating global platforms for several countries, and as part of that architecture, there was a necessity to have a headless Content Management System. We picked Contentstack because we were looking for a SaaS solution that offered the flexibility and agility to drive growth and deliver personalized experiences, without the need for extensive custom development.”
The solution
Today, Pluxee relies on Contentstack to power a diverse range of applications across more than 10 languages, including both consumer-facing and merchant-facing solutions, and mobile apps tailored to both audiences. “One of the most important goals we aimed for was to expand the global solutions footprint inside our existing markets,” Maya said. “We have now built a single platform ecosystem, with a standard that can be replicated across the world.”
Each location operates with its own dedicated team responsible for content creation creating content. To streamline governance, Pluxee leverages Contentstack's role management feature. This ensures that teams in each country have access to and control over only their localized content, enabling seamless operations within a unified global framework.
“We can have one stack, one set of content types, one taxonomy, or definition, and we can serve it to all the countries we want, guaranteeing each region can only modify or impact the specific scope they are linked to,” Maya said. “This is one of the features we like most. With the use of modular blocks, content can be easily reused across regions. This setup empowers product teams to autonomously create and customize content and structures for both consumers and merchants—no technical expertise required. This approach accelerates innovation, enabling content teams to quickly create banners and communication materials, without waiting for technical support. Content can range from simple text describing a specific deal to rich, multimedia-enhanced materials, including videos and interactive elements.
Without bottlenecks and constant requests, developers are also freed up to be more strategic. “Developers are excited because they can leverage existing solutions, creating a new software or a new database for every new type of content,” Maya Ortiz said. “It’s a matter of going through a REST API or using the SDK, and that’s been really straightforward for them.”
The results
Next on the roadmap for Pluxee is to pursue hyper-personalization, leveraging Contentstack’s integration capabilities to create a truly valuable and relevant experience for both the consumer and the merchant.
