Manage Your Billing Details
Note These instructions are for anyone who created their Contentstack account through the sign-up page, on Free, Build, or Growth plans. The Manage Subscription section is only visible to the organization owner. If your organization is on an Enterprise tier, reach out to our support team to make any changes.
Your billing details are the payment method Contentstack charges and the name and address that appear on your invoices. You manage them in a billing portal hosted by Stripe, Contentstack's payment provider.
Contentstack does not store your card number. Keeping card data with the payment provider is what allows Contentstack to take payments without holding your card details.
Prerequisites
- Contentstack account
- Organization Owner permissions
- A paid subscription
Open the Billing Portal
To manage your billing details, log in to your Contentstack account and perform the steps below:
- Click your avatar in the top-right corner, and then click Manage Subscription. Contentstack opens the Subscription page in your account settings.
- In the Billing Information section, click Manage Billing.
The billing portal opens in a new tab. You are signed in already, so you do not enter separate credentials.
Note The Billing Information section appears on paid subscription options only. On Free there is nothing to bill, so the section and Manage Billing are not shown.
What You Can Do in the Billing Portal
- Add a payment method, and set which one Contentstack charges by default.
- Remove a payment method you no longer use.
- Update the billing name and address printed on your invoices.
- View your invoice history, and download any invoice as a PDF.
Changes take effect immediately. Your next payment uses the default payment method at the time of the charge.
Note Updating your billing address can change the tax applied to future invoices, because tax is calculated from that address. It does not change past invoices.
Keep Your Payment Method Current
Contentstack charges your default payment method automatically on each billing date. When a card expires or is replaced, add the new card and set it as the default before your next billing date.
If a charge fails, your subscription status changes to Overdue and the payment provider emails you at the address on your billing details. It then retries the charge automatically, choosing when to try again based on the likelihood of success, so there is no fixed schedule.
Warning Contentstack does not prompt you inside the product when a payment fails. No banner appears, and there is no retry action on the Subscription page. To recover, open the billing portal, add a working payment method, and set it as the default. The provider then collects the outstanding amount on its next attempt.
Find an Invoice
Contentstack emails an invoice each time it charges you. Every invoice is also in the billing portal, under your invoice history, where you can open it or download it as a PDF for your finance team.
