# Entry Default Workflow Stage

**Note**: Before you get to know what the default workflow stage means, you should know the basics of [workflows](/docs/headless-cms/about-workflows), its [stages,](/docs/headless-cms/about-workflow-stages) and [tasks](/docs/headless-cms/about-workflow-tasks).

When you [create a new entry](/docs/headless-cms/create-an-entry) and save it, the entry is, by default, assigned the first stage of your [workflow](/docs/headless-cms/about-workflows).

Initially, no [user](/docs/headless-cms/about-stack-users)(s) and/or [role](/docs/headless-cms/about-stack-roles)(s) are assigned to the first stage of the Workflow as seen in the **Assigned To** section. You can assign user(s) and/or role(s) as per your need.

Also, the due date is not set for this [workflow stage](/docs/headless-cms/about-workflow-stages). So, you can assign a due date to the workflow stage as per your requirement.

To update this stage, refer to our [Change Entry Workflow Stage](/docs/headless-cms/change-entry-workflow-stage) section.
