# [Author Content] - Reopen a Discussion

This page explains how content managers and authors can reopen a resolved discussion in Contentstack when further collaboration is needed, and when this action may be blocked due to existing linked discussions.

## Reopen a Discussion

Contentstack allows you to reopen resolved discussions when further collaboration is required, ensuring that conversations stay dynamic and adaptable. This feature lets teams revisit past conversations as needed.

You can reopen a resolved discussion from the **Discussions** tab in the right navigation panel.

**Warning:** You cannot reopen a resolved discussion if another discussion is already linked to the parent field.

To reopen a discussion, log in to your [Contentstack account](https://app.contentstack.com/#!/login) and perform the following steps:
- Go to your [stack](/docs/developers/set-up-stack/about-stack) and click the “Entries” icon in the left navigation panel or use the shortcut key “E” (for both Windows and Mac users).
- Open an entry with comments, click the **Discussions** tab in the right navigation panel, and select **Resolved** from the dropdown menu.
- Hover over the discussion you want to reopen and click **Reopen**.

Once a discussion is reopened, all comments within it become visible in the field view. You can add new comments and continue collaborating on the field data.

**Note:** If you restore an entry from the [Trash](/docs/developers/manage-trash/about-trash), its associated comments and discussions will not be recovered.

## Common questions

**Can I reopen any resolved discussion?**  
You can reopen a resolved discussion from the **Discussions** tab, but you cannot reopen it if another discussion is already linked to the parent field.

**Where do I find the option to reopen a discussion?**  
In an entry, open the **Discussions** tab in the right navigation panel, filter to **Resolved**, then hover over the discussion and click **Reopen**.

**What happens after I reopen a discussion?**  
Once a discussion is reopened, all comments within it become visible in the field view, and you can add new comments.

**Are discussions restored if I restore an entry from Trash?**  
No. If you restore an entry from the [Trash](/docs/developers/manage-trash/about-trash), its associated comments and discussions will not be recovered.
